E a seguire l’articolo pubblicato da Flavia Verde sul suo Blog in data 24.07.21 con il titolo La seconda vita delle grotte vaporose di San Calogero
Ormai da parecchie settimane, con la nostra immancabile mascherina ffp2, viviamo a stretto contatto con le grotte vaporose del Monte Cronio, mettendo a disposizione del Museo Diffuso dei 5 sensi alcune ore settimanali del nostro tempo libero come volontari nell’accoglienza dei visitatori.
Abbiamo formato una sorta di team in cui ciascuno ha un compito specifico: dalla lettura del green pass, alla compilazione delle schede personali, al racconto della storia di San Calogero, della leggenda di Dedalo, alla visita guidata dentro le grotte vaporose con l’esposizione delle caratteristiche terapeutiche e geologiche. La motivazione, amplificata dall’entusiastico giudizio dei visitatori, ci viene dalla nostra diversa esperienza di vita e di lavoro, ma dalla identica passione per la nostra città e i suoi monumenti. E forse questa passione riusciamo a trasmetterla ai tanti che da Sciacca, ma anche da altre città siciliane, italiane ed estere, accogliamo con il sorriso in questo meraviglioso sito, sconosciuto ancora a molti nostri concittadini.
Noi stessi, prima di questa esperienza, conoscevamo superficialmente la storia e il destino di queste grotte. Adesso, ogni angolo ci è familiare e scopriamo sempre cose nuove. Una di queste è, ad esempio, una grande stele di pietra con una iscrizione in latino che si trova nelle immediate vicinanze dell’ingresso alle “stufe”.
Per una latinista di professione come me, un invito a nozze quello di leggere e gustare questo testo che il grande professore Salvatore Cantone nella sua “Guida di Sciacca 1988” aveva magistralmente tradotto, da cui si evince lo scopo terapeutico e lo straordinario connubio tra natura ed arte.
Ma quello che ogni venerdì continua a stupirci è l’affluenza dei visitatori, i loro entusiastici commenti e la gratitudine nei nostri confronti, fedelmente documentati nel registro apposito.
Se è vero che in questa pandemia dobbiamo mostrarci forti, pazienti e resilienti, allora noi abbiamo scelto questa strada che, vi assicuro, fa tanto bene al nostro umore, ci fornisce una ventata di energia e di vitalità e ci fa sentire utili alla nostra comunità. Un tempo, ironicamente, ci definivamo “ratòri”. Oggi non ci sentiamo più così.
