L’anno 2022, su cui alla mezzanotte di oggi cala il sipario, può esser visto per Sciacca come un anno di transito, o forse è ancor meglio dire come un ponte di passaggio tra un decennio che aveva fatto registrare un evidente e generalizzato declino della nostra città e un futuro per essa che tutti ci auguriamo in termini di concreta inversione di tendenza, di recupero di posizioni su tutti i principali indicatori di sviluppo e di qualità della vita.
In quella sua lunga fase di declino Sciacca ha perso innumerevoli posizioni nel posizionamento sul mercato turistico, ha subìto la chiusura dell’intero complesso termale, ha visto il deteriorarsi progressivo d’immagine dell’Ospedale Giovanni Paolo II, non ha portato a conclusione alcuna delle opere pubbliche incompiute e non ne ha realizzate di nuove, ha fatto registrare un generale deterioramento nel settore pubblico dei servizi e del decoro urbano , è addirittura rimasta senza consiglio comunale a causa di un incomprensibile “atto suicida” da parte della politica locale.
Durante questo 2022 si sono verificati alcuni fatti che potrebbero invece rappresentare le necessarie premesse di una inversione di tendenza, da maturarsi nel nuovo anno che verrà.
Ricordiamo insieme quali.
Innanzitutto la città è tornata ad avere un suo consiglio comunale: pur essendo stata proprio la politica causa principale di quel decennale declino di cui si è detto, è altrettanto evidente come la classe politica cittadina deve assumersi la propria responsabilità di rappresentare un necessario fattore di spinta verso un cambiamento di direzione.
Sciacca ha un nuovo sindaco, eletto sulla scia di una esigenza di cambiamento anche generazionale e di sistema, e con lui una nuova amministrazione: per essa la sfida nel 2023 è quella di far diventare la progettualità una modalità di amministrare la cosa pubblica.
In ambito termale sono state create le premesse, durante i mesi estivi, per qualcosa che potrebbe finalmente aprire le porte al recupero del patrimonio immobiliare delle Terme di Sciacca: grazie in particolare al lavoro compiuto dall’assessore Gianluca Fisco, si è riusciti a presentare a Cassa Depositi e Prestiti una proposta di ristrutturazione e di recupero funzionale del complesso termale a valere sui fondi PNRR, il cui esito sarà noto a fine gennaio 2023 e che, si spera fortemente, possa essere positivo e consentirci finalmente una rinascita come città termale in un tempo tra l’altro non indefinito.
Anche il settore propriamente turistico ha evidenziato positivi segnali, tutti da consolidarsi in termini di crescita nel 2023: le principali strutture alberghiere (Verdura Resort di Rocco Forte e gli alberghi di Sciaccamare del gruppo Mangia) e i tanti B&B hanno avuto numeri in crescita rispetto al pre-Covid, si è andato sempre più consolidando ed ampliando l’operato apprezzabilissimo e innovativo sotto il profilo anche della cultura turistica a parte della Comunità del Museo Diffuso dei 5 Sensi ed alcune nuove iniziative private sono sicuramente andate nella giusta direzione. Certo, finché la nostra città avrà ad esempio una sola corsa di bus come mezzo pubblico che la collega con l’aeroporto di Palermo, siamo ancora lontani anni luce da quel rapporto pubblico-privato che è indispensabile per un autentico decollo turistico…
Sul fronte ospedaliero la situazione si è fatta sempre più precaria e ingarbugliata, del tutto subordinata ad Agrigento, ma il tavolo di lavoro convocato dal Sindaco a fine anno con i sindaci dei comuni del territorio potrebbe consentire a Sciacca di rivestire quel ruolo di capofila del distretto territoriale che le compete di diritto e che potrebbe aumentarne il peso nel confronto con la Regione, sempreché la comunità di Ribera e l’on.le Carmelo Pace non decidano di giocare in solitario una battaglia che, per essere vinta come territorio, richiede invece che si faccia causa comune.
A novembre lo sciacchitano Michele Catanzaro è stato rieletto deputato all’assemblea regionale e capogruppo del maggior partito di opposizione al governo Schifani: è lui l’unico esponente politico che Sciacca mantiene a livello regionale e nazionale, e anche se la politica non la si può fare in nome della propria città di origine e di residenza, è chiaro che per il 2023 la città si attende da Michele l’esercizio di un ruolo più attivo nelle dinamiche con le quali essa è chiamata ad affrontare le proprie problematiche, possibilmente di concerto con gli altri due esponenti politici territoriali (Margherita La Rocca e Carmelo Pace) in nome di quella politica di territorio alternativa a quella di campanile e che solo dall’unione delle eccellenze dei diversi comuni può far scaturire un autentico sviluppo economico e sociale per questo nostro territorio così periferico e dimenticato, ma pieno di mille risorse.
A Marzo 2022 ha visto la luce a Sciacca una nuova testata giornalistica, il nostro giornale civico ServireSciacca, che nei mesi successivi si è fatto conoscere, si è fatto le ossa e si è fatto (crediamo) apprezzare, ragion per cui anche per noi di ServireSciacca il 2023 rappresenta un’occasione per fare ancor meglio e offrire alla comunità cittadina la voce e il servizio civico di un giornale del tutto volontaristico, a cui sta a cuore solo lo sviluppo e la crescita della nostra amata città come capofila di tutto il territorio circostante.
