In occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell’Ambiente del 5 Giugno, poi spostata al 13 per il maltempo, il Comitato “Pro villa comunale” e “Cittadinanza attiva” hanno rivolto un invito ai saccensi , con un appuntamento alla nostra Villa Comunale “Ignazio Scaturro”, per celebrare, simbolicamente, questa giornata, sensibilizzando tutti a una maggiore attenzione verso la natura che ci circonda, iniziando proprio dal giardino di casa nostra. Sì, il giardino di tutti noi è la nostra villa. Il giardino della città, quello in cui si accolgono gli ospiti nelle giornate di festa, quello che manifesta la nostra cura per la nostra abitazione, quello in cui sedersi, conversare, far giocare i bambini, circondati da piante, fiori, tra profumi e colori che invitano a godere di una natura in piccolo che ci rappresenta. Chi non è orgoglioso di mostrare le sue piante agli amici che ci vengono a trovare? Andare orgogliosi del proprio spazio verde è una cosa del tutto naturale, così come lo è prendersene cura, mantenerlo pulito, accogliente, decoroso. Del Proprio Spazio Verde…ma non di quello comune. Perchè, purtroppo…e questo è un retaggio culturale del quale non riusciamo a liberarci, quello che è Nostro è solo quello che abbiamo dentro casa nostra, mentre tutto quello che sta fuori l’uscio della nostra abitazione, non ci riguarda proprio. Per tornare alla nostra Villa, alcuni componenti dei due sodalizi che si sono occupati nello specifico del problema legato alla manutenzione di questo nostro bellissimo polmone di verde che gli amministratori illuminati del passato hanno lasciato alla città, hanno fatto una specie di sopralluogo tra i sentieri del nostro giardino, scoprendo erbacce che rigogliosamente invadono spazi come fossero fiori di rara bellezza;
il laghetto dei cigni con le sue acque putride;
i bagni in completo abbandono; una cabina elettrica fatiscente e , a dir poco, pericolosa per una recinzione che cade a pezzi;
monumenti ai Padri e ai personaggi illustri della città che sono irriconoscibili per le didascalie cancellate da tempo immemorabile; cavi scoperti; strutture lignee abbandonate a se stesse; panchine arrugginite…il tutto ha un’aria di abbandono, di degrado, di sporco che non ci fa onore. Nessuno di noi accoglierebbe i suoi ospiti in un giardino come questo. Eppure, la nostra Villa ha delle prerogative che ne potrebbero fare un gioiello di questa città: piante tipiche della flora mediterranea, viali e vialetti circondati di aiuole , un panorama bellissimo con un affaccio sul mare.
Anche la sua posizione è strategica perchè si trova all’ingresso del centro storico, là dove è normale che un visitatore e un turista di passaggio possa cercare uno spazio di accoglienza , di riposo, di relax, con servizi efficienti. Tutto questo noi cittadini lo sappiamo bene. Non vi diciamo niente di nuovo. Non basta che ci siano i custodi a vigilare nella sopravvivenza di questo spazio comune. Ci vogliono dei villieri ( così si chiamano un tempo gli addetti alla manutenzione, tanto attenti e competenti del verde.) Ci vuole, da parte dell’amministrazione, una maggiore attenzione e un amore che non c’è, quasi a voler rinnegare uno spazio che, invece, è importantissimo ed è il biglietto da visita di Sciacca.
I componenti delle due associazioni che da alcuni anni hanno preso a cuore i problemi del giardino comunale, lo chiedono a gran voce. (I soliti, voi direte) Sì, i soliti, gli irriducibili. E chiedono ai cittadini più sensibili e volenterosi di collaborare per portare avanti, insieme , le battaglie per la cura del verde pubblico, anche con zappa e rastrello alla mano, per dimostrare che l’ambiente va salvaguardato in tutti i suoi aspetti, a partire dal giardino di casa nostra: la Villa Comunale.
