L’opera Mimi siciliani di Francesco Lanza (Valguernera, 1897 – 1933) è una raccolta di 106 storielle nelle quali, in forma popolaresca ma con gusto meramente letterario, sono tratteggiati tipi e scenette di vita provinciale siciliana.
Leggendo la storia dei 7 Sciacchitani mi è venuto subito in mente il capolavoro di Miguel de Cervantes: “Don Chisciotte” e l’esilarante episodio del duello contro i mulini a vento.
Don Chisciotte avvista dei mulini a vento che scambia per dei giganti ed imperterrito combatte contro di loro. Cosìnasce l’espressione “Combattere contro i mulini a vento”.
Ritornando alla nostra storiella, ma che c’entra Don Chisciotte con i 7 Sciacchitani?
Sicuramente ci sono diversi punti di riflessione: mentre i 7 Sciacchitani si arresero ad un fiasco, Don Chisciotte combatté contro un nemico immaginario. Di sicuro i nostri protagonisti combatterono contro le illusioni soprattutto contro un nemico che non esisteva.
Da qui, per farla breve e senza scomodare la filosofia, l’uomo davanti ai problemi e alle difficoltà può reagire in due modi: sbigottirsi e tremare di paura come i 7 Sciacchitani oppure affrontare i problemi a viso aperto come fa l’eroico cavaliere nella sua pazzia.
I 7 Sciacchitani, si sono arresi molto tempo prima di capire come stessero le cose. Questo purtroppo succede ancora oggi quando si finisce come quelli che sui social criticano il sistema, però poi rimangono immobili sul divano, senza attivarsi tramite associazioni o comitati e senza partecipare alle manifestazioni popolari per i temi di grande interesse come quello termale, quello della sanità o quello delle infrastrutture.
Ecco, il mio auspicio, usciamo dall’immobilismo e dalla disillusione e non facciamo né come Don Chisciotte che combatté battaglie inutili né come i 7 Sciacchitani che si arresero prima di combattere!
