Questa è la nostra bellissima piazza Scandaliato, in una normale serata di luglio del 2023.
Quasi deserta e neanche illuminata a dovere.
Quella che dovrebbe essere il cuore pulsante di una città turistica, come una splendida terrazza che si affaccia sul mare, appare invece malinconicamente esclusa da ogni serio tentativo di farne il centro vitale della vita cittadina, del richiamo turistico, dell’estate saccense.
Sì è vero, tra qualche giorno vi arriverà il Green Valley e allora si riempirà di gente fino all’inverosimile, ma non sto parlando del singolo evento…
Sto parlando invece di una piazza che ogni sera d’estate dovrebbe ospitare uno o più eventi attrattivi di vario genere, che dovrebbe riempirsi di dehors (da rendersi obbligatori per gli esercizi commerciali che vi si affacciano), una piazza che faccia da splendido belvedere da cui affacciarsi per vedere, che so, magari uno spettacolo di antiche lampare che lasciano il porto con le loro luci ardenti che illuminano il mare, e la fantasia potrebbe sbizzarrirsi nel pensare a tanti altri possibili spettacoli.
L’ho sempre sostenuto e continuerò a farlo, il rilancio della città e del suo centro storico deve partire proprio dalla piazza Scandaliato, insieme alla scalinata che da essa scende alla Marina, per farla diventare da giugno a tutto settembre il cuore pulsante dell’estate saccense e di un centro storico che riprende vita, senza necessità di dover fare le ore piccole.
Ma dove è finita l’estate saccense? Rimane tutto fermo, come quell’orologio sulla facciata del Palazzo comunale spento e guasto ormai da anni, che guarda la piazza Scandaliato quasi deserta e neanche illuminata a dovere…
Che dire? È davvero difficile ribattere a questo articolo.
Io non abito a Sciacca,ma sono Saccense e posso solo dire, quando ero ragazzo,non’e’ che c’erano eventi a gogò. Però era un punto di ritrovo, d’estate un po’ meno, i ritrovi diventavano, lo Stazzone la Foggia, comunque movimento cenera sempre.
PS: L’orologio era perfettamente funzionante.

Non abito a Sciacca ma sono saccense, posso dire che durante la mia infanzia e giovinezza(1948 e i due decenni successivi) la piazza era il luogo di ritrovo sia d’estate che d’inverno.Non mancava il palco della banda musicale locale che si esibiva allietando le calde serate e le domeniche mattine con con musica lirica e altro.Era li che si svolgevano i più importanti eventi del paese, senza dimenticare i comizi elettorali su un improvvisato palco posto davanti al bar Scandaglia , il passeggio su e giu per lu “chianu”.Certo ora è impensabile tutto ciò, la città si è allargata ci sono altri luoghi deputati agli eventi culturali e d’intrattenimento , e poi ,diciamolo pure lo stile di vita è cambiato e non sempre in meglio.Rimpiango tutto quello che accadeva nella piazza Scandaliato contornata da Caffè, pasticcerie e persino da un cinema all’aperto.
