Non potevano che chiamarsi “Amici della musica” perchè loro, tutti loro, la musica la amavano davvero e la mettevano al primo posto nella loro vita, sia che fossero valenti esecutori, sia che fossero coristi. In questa foto in bianco e nero li vediamo durante una prova nel Salone del Carmine, sotto la direzione del Maestro Giuseppe La Rosa. Chi ha la mia età può guardare attentamente e riconoscere tanti volti noti, tanti professionisti ma anche tanti giovani che allora hanno abbracciato questo progetto e hanno vissuto l’esperienza di un’ orchestra che raccoglieva tra le sue fila quanto di meglio la musica poteva offrire in un periodo felice di crescita culturale della città. Giovani talenti che sono stati nutriti e alimentati nella loro passione per la musica, proprio grazie ai tanti musicisti che di quel gruppo facevano parte.
Fare uno o più nomi non è possibile, perchè sono tanti sia i musicisti che i coristi e rischierei di dimenticarne qualcuno. Persone note, professionisti e dilettanti. Ce n’era uno in ogni famiglia di Sciacca ( la cosa può sembrare esagerata, ma non lo è). Ne fece parte anche mio padre con il suo violino. In quel meraviglioso periodo di crescita economica e culturale che furono gli anni 70/80, anche la cultura musicale avanzava, grazie alle comunità parrocchiali che accoglievano e promuovevano tante attività all’interno delle loro strutture. Una di queste, il Salone del Carmine, era sede di musica, teatro, iniziative ludiche. Ed è stata la culla del nostro ensemble degli Amici della Musica. Tre furono le fasi di questa mitica orchestra. Ciascuna di esse ebbe la sua importanza per la presenza di musicisti di valore, pianisti e direttori d’orchestra che ne decretarono il successo.
Più di cinquanta concerti. Si eseguivano arie tratte da melodrammi conosciuti, da operette, musica sacra e anche canzoni napoletane classiche. In questa foto, vediamo alcune ragazze molto giovani, le “voci bianche” che entrarono di diritto nel coro. Dopo le prime esecuzioni all’interno del salone parrocchiale, l‘orchestra e il coro di Sciacca fecero apprezzare i loro concerti a Racalmuto, Agrigento, Menfi, Sambuca, Partanna, Ravanusa, Caltabellotta, Piazza Armerina, Grotte, Poggioreale, Santo Stefano di Quisquina, Cammarata e Castronovo di Sicilia, a Palermo. Per Sciacca, erano un punto fermo per le esecuzioni in determinati periodi festivi dell’anno. (Ricordiamo “Le Sette Parole di Melchiorre Mauro il Venerdì Santo)
I progressi dell’Associazione “Amici della musica” erano costanti ma con la crescita, come spesso avviene, iniziarono dei contrasti al suo interno. Per alcuni, il gruppo fondatore soprattutto doveva rimanere un coro parrocchiale e non allargarsi troppo con impegni che richiedevano continue trasferte con oneri organizzativi rilevanti. Per altri, bisognava invece assecondare il successo e raggiungere più ambiziosi traguardi. Il maestro La Rosa lascia la direzione dell’orchestra e va a costituire la “Corale Francescana “nella Chiesa del Giglio. Prende il suo posto, negli anni 90 il Maestro Michele Cottone, di Menfi, già primo flauto dell’orchestra che continua l’attività concertistica del sodalizio ancora per molti anni.
Il seme piantato, inizia a produrre ai suoi frutti. Nascono altre formazioni corali e strumentali che continuano il percorso degli “Amici della musica”. La loro sede non è più un salone parrocchiale, ma ambienti più eleganti e più ricercati, in una Sciacca dove le Terme fanno da traino all’economia e alla crescita. Quei giovani che si erano formati negli anni 80 sono ora loro stessi direttori d’orchestra e solisti di successo. Ma questa è un’altra storia…
