È di oggi la notizia che la giunta municipale ha deliberato di denominare il belvedere di Via Agatocle, sovrastante il fondo Bernardo, al dr. Pippo Stranci.
Dietro questo atto della giunta ci sta una storia riguardante il variegato mondo del volontariato e due nobili figure della storia di Sciacca, il dr.Stranci e il poeta Licata, che adesso, a delibera adottata, vogliamo raccontare ai nostri lettori.
Il nostro giornale civico ServireSciacca aveva a suo tempo proposto di denominare questo Belvedere di via Agatocle al poeta Vincenzo Licata, dopo aver ottenuto l’autorizzazione del figlio Antonello Licata. Tale proposta era stata recepita anche da CittadinanzAttiva – Sciacca, che l’aveva fatta propria, in considerazione del fatto che il predetto belvedere è posizionato in un punto panoramico sul mare tra i più belli della città e che il nostro concittadino poeta Vincenzo Licata, considerato a giusto titolo tra le migliori espressioni artistiche in assoluto della poesia dialettale siciliana, è conosciuto come il “poeta del mare e dei marinai”, cui ha dedicato numerose tra le sue liriche più belle.
Anche da parte dell’Associazione Crescere Insieme era stato però già da tempo proposto di denominare lo stesso Belvedere al Dottor Pippo Stranci, nostro concittadino e medico psichiatra dirigente responsabile dell’U.R. di Neurofisiopatologia del presidio “Aiuto Materno” di Palermo, venuto prematuramente a mancare nel 2016 dei suoi cari e di quanti nel nostro territorio lo hanno avuto come punto di riferimento fondamentale per la cura di bambini ammalati, che ha seguito con assoluta dedizione sebbene lavorasse a Palermo e anche negli ultimi mesi della sua malattia.
Ognuno dei sopracitati proponenti NON era tuttavia a conoscenza della proposta altrui.
Quando si è presa consapevolezza di questa coincidenza di luogo prescelto i proponenti si sono incontrati, convenendo che si trattava di proposte aventi entrambe il merito di onorare la memoria di due degnissimi e illustri figli della nostra città, che in ambiti e tempi diversi hanno saputo dare grande lustro a Sciacca con le proprie doti e i propri talenti.
Non essendo nelle intenzioni delle associazioni sopra citate mettere tra loro in contrasto, per ragioni pur degne di toponomastica, due nobili figure come quella del poeta Vincenzo Licata e del medico Pippo Stranci, anzi volendo esse trovare un modo per proporre, INSIEME, la intestazione di luoghi comunque significativi della nostra città a Vincenzo Licata e Pippo Stranci, si è giunti nella determinazione di inoltrare all’assessore Francesco Dimino, nel mese di febbraio 2023 la seguente comunicazione:
“I rappresentanti di ServireScacca Giornale Civico, CittadinanzAttiva- Sciacca e Crescere Insieme Onlus si sono riuniti per trovare una possibile soluzione alla contrapposizione di proposte come sopra determinatasi, affidando in ultimo all’amministrazione comunale la responsabilità di decidere per il meglio.
Sono state così delineate, con il consenso di tutti e tre i soggetti giuridici, le due seguenti proposte alternative:
– denominare al Poeta del Mare Vincenzo Licata il Belvedere di Via Agatocle, contestualmente ad una sua adeguata valorizzazione (anche con utilizzazione di istallazioni recanti stralci delle poesie di Licata dedicate al mare) e regolare manutenzione, e denominare al Dottor Pippo Stranci la villetta posta all’estremità di piazza Angelo Scandaliato, in considerazione anche dell’ampia visibilità pubblica di tale ultimo sito;
– denominare al Dottor Pippo Stranci il Belvedere di Via Agatocle, contestualmente ad una sua adeguata valorizzazione e regolare manutenzione, e denominare al Poeta del Mare Vincenzo Licata ilpiazzale pedonale antistante la Rocca Regina, contestualmente tuttavia ad un suo adeguato recupero funzionale e valorizzazione (anche con utilizzazione di istallazioni recanti stralci delle poesie di Licata dedicate al mare)”.
Oggi sappiamo che l’Amministrazione comunale ha fatto la sua scelta su Fondo Bernardo, ma non l’ha fatta correlativamente sul cosiddetto piazzale di Rocca Regina, e pertanto a Sciacca non c’è ancora una via, una piazza, un belvedere intitolata a Vincenzo Licata.
Si attendono quindi notizie in proposito da parte del sindaco Fabio Termine e dall’assessore Francesco Dimino…
