Ancora una volta mi occupo del grande ed antico istituto Agrario, che si trova in contrada Marchesa accanto al nuovo complesso scolastico Amato Vetrano, quella che un tempo chiamavamo Scuola Agraria.
Immerso nel verde dei terreni donati dal grande mecenate Calogero Amato Vetrano, racchiude in sé tutta la storia di quest’uomo che alla fine del ‘800 volle fondare una scuola ad indirizzo Agrario e che ha visto transitare fior di studenti, molti dei quali diventati professionisti nel campo agricolo.
Oggi questo manufatto abbandonato da anni si sta completamente sbriciolando, ma poiché la maggior parte delle mura resistono sono convinto che si potrebbe ancora tentare di salvare e restaurare questo immobile che definirei un monumento. Le volontà del caro Amato Vetrano, nel suo testamento, erano quelle che tutto ciò che aveva donato mantenesse sempre uno scopo didattico destinato all’agricoltura.
La bellissima vecchia scuola, che prende il suo nome accanto all’ Istituto Alberghiero, credo possa trovare proprio nel recupero strutturale di questo manufatto una ulteriore crescita e sviluppo.
La fondazione che si è creata tanti anni fa e che è presieduta dal sindaco pro tempore penso debba trovare il modo di pensare ad una progettazione che riesca ad intercettare fondi europei o di altro genere che possano ridare vita a questa bellissima struttura dall’ architettura singolare e importante. Una partnership con l’Universita’ per farne un luogo di campi sperimentali potrebbe aiutare a trovare più facilmente fondi comunitari.
Le foto mostrano il degrado, ma anche la bellezza di alcune parti della costruzione.
