È questa la domanda che sotto sotto si accompagna a iniziative belle e significative come quella di PLASTICFREE che tra ieri e oggi ha messo insieme tante associazioni e volontari civici che, per celebrare la Giornata Mondiale della Terra, hanno ripulito le spiagge di Porto Palo a Menfi e del Lido a Sciacca.
L’obiettivo come è ovvio non è solo quello della pulizia in sé, comunque importante, ma anche quello della sensibilizzazione ambientale nei confronti dei cittadini a tener puliti spiagge e mare, beni comuni profondamente inquinati dall’azione dell’uomo con pesanti ricadute sulla fauna marina e sulla nostra stessa salute, oltre ovviamente agli aspetti del decoro e dell’attrattiva turistica.
Le foto che pubblichiamo alla fine di questo articolo testimoniano più di ogni parola l’impegno meritevolmente profuso e la quantità del materiale rimosso.
Di pomeriggio abbiamo voluto fare un sopralluogo sulla spiaggia del Lido, cogliendone il bellissimo aspetto di un arenile significativamente e finalmente pulito.
Solo questi 3 bicchieri di plastica e questa bottiglietta vuota facevano bella mostra di sé nel bel mezzo della spiaggia pulitissima, sicuramente non una dimenticanza di chi aveva pulito la mattina ma il frutto di una eredità lasciata da chi su quella spiaggia c’era stato dopo. Sono i cosiddetti imbecilli incivili… Riusciremo mai a debellarli? E pensare che quella plastica lasciata nel libero ambiente potrà inquinarlo per centinai di anni…

Ecco i numeri: 188 volontari iscritti senza contare i non iscritti, 1300kg di rifiuti tolti dalla spiaggia. Auspichiamo per l’avvenire un maggiore interesse da parte della cittadinanza. Purtroppo abbiamo trovato tanto polistirolo nelle spiagge vicino ai porti.
