Aveva iniziato il circolo territoriale San Michele – Marina dei Fratelli d’Italia, aveva fatto seguito la sezione di Sciacca di Italia Nostra, adesso è il turno del consigliere comunale della Democrazia Cristiana Filippo Bellanca, che si rivolge invece Soprintendente per i Beni Culturali e Ambientali di Agrigento,
Ing. Vincenzo Rinaldi, oltre che al sindaco.
Bellanca definisce il suo intervento come una richiesta urgente a tutela del patrimonio monumentale della città di Sciacca, facendo presente come parte delle cinquecentesche mura medievali vengono deturpate
da questa vetusta e fatiscente cabina Enel in stato di abbandono, che sorge in prossimità dell’antica Porta San Calogero, nel quartiere di San Michele, in uno degli angoli più suggestivi della cinta muraria che un tempo cingeva la città, una zona tra l’altro oggetto in passato di importanti interventi di conservazione e di tutela da parte della Soprintendenza.
“Da decenni – dice Il consigliere comunale – si chiede con forza alle autorità cittadine di attivare ogni procedura possibile per fare in modo che il gestore dei servizi elettrici demolisca tale edificio, per dare giusto risalto al bene monumentale e valorizzare l’area di San Michele dal punto di vista turistico, sito dove tra l’altro sorgono un bastione, il portale di ingresso al quartiere, un antico bevaio, diverse chiese e un monastero di grande rilievo architettonico”.
“Purtroppo – fa notare Bellanca – ogni richiesta è stata inutile e oggi si assiste addirittura ad un intervento di recupero per messa in sicurezza della vecchia infrastruttura di servizio elettrico”.
In conclusione Bellanca chiede alle autorità in indirizzo un urgente ed autorevole intervento per fermare i lavori di manutenzione in corso e predisporre ogni atto possibile affinché si possa addivenire alla immediata
demolizione di questo immobile, restituendo alla città un angolo della sua storia.
