Per fortuna esiste ancora una Sciacca visionaria, positiva , creativa, operativa e guerriera. Calogero di Leo, creativo e sciacchitano verace, ci ha messo tutta la sua passione e il suo impegno. Ha creduto nella magia di questo luogo straordinario, sito nel cuore della marina di Sciacca, in Piazza Dogana 12. Finora trascurato e sottovalutato, addirittura sconosciuto anche a molti saccensi, da qualche giorno questa originale location ha una nuova vita, grazie a lui.
Nella città di Dedalo, mitico architetto esperto in grotte, entrare in questo luogo significa immergersi in un luogo antico e sorprendente: il posto dove venivano ammassate e caricate le granaglie, l’”oro biondo” che rese Sciacca uno dei quattro Vicariati e sede della Zecca. In origine furono probabilmente abitazioni rupestri o sepolture, in seguito trasformate in ambienti ipogeici, e utilizzate poi come fosse granarie. Erano scavate nella roccia viva ed avevano la caratteristica forma a “imbuto rovesciato”, con accesso dall’alto, collegate tramite cunicoli detti “cannoli”. La loro storia si addentra nelle visceri di questa città, tra terra e mare.
Nelle intenzioni di Calogero, come leggiamo nella home page del sito web, le Grotte del Caricatore, più che una location eventi, è un lounge club, un ambiente unico in cui lavorare, organizzare convegni e riunioni, presentare un libro, godere e apprezzare originali momenti musicali e teatrali, scoprire e sperimentare i prodotti della cucina tradizionale ed internazionale, uno spazio flessibile pensato per adattarsi a ogni esigenza.
Il tutto esaurito dell’evento musicale di ieri sera, con Giuseppe Milici quartet, l’entusiasmo del pubblico presente fanno ben sperare per le fortune di questo spazio che si presenta con tutte le carte in regola per essere anche uno spazio alternativo e originale, aperto alla città, ma soprattutto ai visitatori. Il nostro sincero plauso e apprezzamento al lavoro di Calò Di Leo, operatore culturale prezioso per la nostra comunità. Ce ne fossero tanti, come lui!
